However, if you choose to submit payments or make lunch account deposits via your child please remember that all money submitted to school for your child’s lunch account or any other event or activity must be in an envelope clearly marked with the student’s first and last name and the purpose for the money (i.e. lunch money, school fees, etc.). If paying by check, please print your child’s first and last name in the memo portion of the check. Dress Code

dont_forget.pngParents are advised to remind their student that some clothing is not appropriate school attire. All students are expected to observe the basic standards of cleanliness, good grooming, and modesty. These standards include, but are not limited to, items such as pajama bottoms/lounge-type wear, as well as, clothing that is “see-through”, cut low, or exposes one’s midriff.  Students may not wear hats, hoods, visors, bandanas, or slippers in school. Additionally, if a shirt with spaghetti straps is worn, then a T-shirt or blouse must be worn under or over that shirt. The items described here are not appropriate for junior high. Please monitor your child’s choice of clothing. Please refer to your Parent/Student Handbook for a complete description of our dress code.

CELL PHONE USAGE
Cell phone use is not permitted in the school. Cell phones are allowed in school only if the cell phone is kept in the locker and turned OFF. Cell phone use is permitted before or after school hours outside of the school. If a phone is found with the student during the school day or if the student operates the phone during the school day the phone will be confiscated and placed in the school safe until the end of the school day. If the student repeatedly abuses this regulation, a parent will need to come to school to retrieve the phone.

Make Your Doctor Appointments Early

PHYSICAL AND IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS ATTENTION PARENTS:

Summer is the best time to schedule your child’s doctor appointment for the upcoming school year so that, should your child wish to participate in an extracurricular sport they will have the required examination PRIOR TO TRYOUTS. Additionally, students wishing to participate in any extracurricular sport must also have PROOF OF INSURANCE on file in the School Office.

It is very important to remember that according to District 59 policy there can be NO EXCEPTIONS to this policy. An appointment, even if it is within a few days after tryouts WILL NOT BE ACCEPTABLE.

The DEADLINE for turning in both the completed physical exam form and the proof of insurance is THE DAY BEFORE THE TRYOUT. The day of the tryout is too late to try to schedule an appointment or turn in forms and students are often disappointed to find out they cannot tryout because the proper documentation is not on file.

Is Your Information Correct?

For the safety of your child it is important that the school have current home, work and/or cell phone numbers for parents/guardians as well as for any adults allowed by the parent to pick their child up from school.

If you haven’t already done so, please make sure the school office has current information and please try to remember to keep the office informed if or when phone numbers or other contacts change. Additionally, for the safety of your child, please make sure he/she memorizes his/her home phone number and address, as well as work and cell phone numbers where parents can be reached.

Important Lunch Account Deposit Deadline

Please note that money posted to your child’s lunch account via Mealtime Online has a deadline in order for that deposit to be available for your child’s lunch period. Please also note that if your child brings his/her lunch deposit to school in an envelope, it must be submitted to the school office BEFORE 9:00 A.M. – preferably upon entry to school before the start of the first period class. The Ceres lunch personnel need sufficient time to post money to individual accounts, therefore, please understand that lunch money brought to the school office after the lunch personnel pick up the day’s deposits money submitted after 9:00 AM cannot be posted in time for that day’s lunch period.
